Prof. Omi Narayan is a highly acclaimed Consultant Paediatric Pulmonologist and Sleep Physician, who served as Director of Pediatrics and Director of Sleep Medicine at a leading Dubai hospital from 2021 to 2026, and is Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Sharjah. He is currently on clinical leave, with a new Dubai practice to be announced shortly.

He specialises in all aspects of paediatric pulmonology — chronic cough, difficult asthma, bronchoscopy, sleep-disordered breathing, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, long-term ventilation, and rare lung disease in children from infancy through adolescence.

International Training & NHS Experience

Dr Narayan spent 16 years practising within the UK National Health Service, based primarily at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital — one of the UK's largest and most respected tertiary paediatric centres. There he served as Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician and led the bronchoscopy, sleep, and long-term ventilation services.

He held an honorary academic position as Associate Dean and Senior Lecturer at Manchester Medical School, University of Manchester, where he taught undergraduate and postgraduate students and contributed to curriculum development.

Training & Qualifications

He completed his undergraduate medical training at Mumbai University, followed by post-graduation at King's College London. His paediatric training took place at Evelina Children's Hospital (Guy's & St Thomas') and Great Ormond Street Hospital, before subspecialty training in paediatric pulmonology at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

He holds dual UK board certification (CCT) in Paediatrics and Paediatric Pulmonology — one of very few physicians in the UAE to hold this qualification — and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH).

Dr Narayan has 55 peer-reviewed publications and over 511 citations. His research spans paediatric pulmonology, sleep medicine, long-term ventilation, rare lung disease, and medical education.
